Who we are and how we are governed
Arawak Walton Housing Association is a charitable community benefit society and registered social housing provider based in Manchester. We are committed to strong governance, accountability and transparency.
We are:

Board and Governance
Arawak Walton is governed by a Board of non-executive members who provide strategic leadership, oversight and accountability for the Association.
The Board is responsible for ensuring that Arawak Walton is well governed, financially viable and delivering its objectives for tenants and communities. Board members bring a broad range of skills, experience and perspectives, with specialist oversight provided through our Board committees.
Our Board and committee structure supports effective decision-making, scrutiny and assurance across the organisation.
The role of our Committees
Our Board is supported by committees that provide additional oversight, scrutiny and assurance in specific areas. Each committee has defined responsibilities and operates in accordance with its approved Terms of Reference.
Audit Committee
The Audit Committee provides oversight and assurance on Arawak Walton’s financial management, audit arrangements, internal controls and risk management. It also monitors areas including fraud, insurance, business continuity and health and safety, and provides assurance to the Board on the effectiveness of these arrangements.
HR & Governance Committee
The HR & Governance Committee provides assurance, scrutiny and oversight of people, culture and organisational capacity, governance effectiveness and Board development, and senior leadership performance, remuneration and succession. It supports the Board in ensuring that Arawak Walton has the leadership, culture, governance arrangements and people capability needed to deliver its Corporate Plan and regulatory obligations.
Tenant Experience Committee
The Tenant Experience Committee scrutinises and challenges service delivery, helping to drive tenant-shaped service improvements. It provides assurance to the Board on compliance with the Consumer Standards, health and safety requirements and the Housing Ombudsman Complaint Handling Code, while using tenant feedback, satisfaction data and insight to help improve services.
Adrian Carridice-Davids
Board Member, Chair of the Board, Member of HR & Governance Committee

Adrian is a Non-Executive Director with a wide range of experience managing large-scale government and community projects. He is currently associate Non-Executive Director for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Warrington & Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Adrian brings with him a wealth of skills and experience, including health, community engagement and social housing.
Rob Brown
Board Member, Deputy Chair of the Board, Chair of the Audit Committee, Member of HR & Governance Committee

Rob works at Manchester City Council (MCC) as a Consultation and Engagement Manager. He has worked alongside Arawak Walton for a number of years as part of his role at the City Council. Rob has been on various Board’s including Arawak Walton from 2005 – 2007. Rob brings with him 36 years of experience and knowledge of working in the housing sector at MCC.
Troy Tull

Troy is an Audit Manager at Worldpay, where he leads the SOX financial controls programme across UK and International operations. A Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA, CGMA), Troy has over 10 years’ experience across financial services and risk assurance. He began his career at Arawak Walton in 2014 as a Finance and Data Assistant before progressing into financial services. He joined the board in 2020 and sits on the Audit and Risk Committee and chairs the HR & Governance Committee.
Julie Jarman
Board Member
Member of the HR & Governance Committee

Julie has recently retired from a career working on social justice, poverty and equalities mostly in the voluntary sector in the UK and internationally. More recently she worked at the Equality and Human Rights Commission and at Stockport Council. She is currently a Non-Executive Director at Warrington and Halton NHS Hospitals Trust where she chairs the Strategic People Committee. She has a long standing interest in Mental Health.
Nigel Gloudon

Member of the Audit Committee

Nigel has extensive experience as a non-executive/trustee, having worked with charities and entities from other sectors over the past 25 years. He is a qualified accountant, with nearly 20 years’ experience working with global accountancy/consultancy providers. Nigel has a particular focus on strategies for addressing health inequalities (in which housing plays an integral role), underpinned by a master’s in health economics.
Anila Khalid
Board Member
Member of the Audit Committee

Anila works at Stockport Homes Group as Assistant Director of Neighbourhoods across 6 local authorities and has worked in Housing for over 20 years. This does not include a 3 year placement in the USA working on a Healthy Families Program in Maryland. This was an opportunity that arose working as part of the Prevent Child Abuse agenda and has helped immensely in understanding the importance of prevention and supporting families. The aspects of her current role which she enjoys the most are engaging with customers, partners and stakeholders to ensure that communities thrive and are better places because of the work her teams are engaged in.
Samson Chen
Board Member
Member of the Tenant Experience Committee

Sam has over 35 years of experience as a Chartered Building Surveyor (RICS). He holds a degree in Building Technology from UMIST and a Master’s in Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Boston, USA).
He has served in leadership roles at AWHA and The Salvation Army, and currently pastors part-time at a church in South Manchester. Outside of work, Sam enjoys football, badminton, and pool, and is a former Kung Fu black belt.

Larry Gold
Co-opted Member of the Audit Committee

Larry Gold is the Chief Executive of South Yorkshire Housing. Larry has experience working in the private sector, local and central government and over 20 years in the housing sector.
Larry has held leadership roles at the Prime Focus Regeneration Group, Walsall Housing Group, and Trafford Housing Trust. Larry has a strong strategic focus and operational expertise leading across finance, governance, development, and operational business divisions.
