We want you to feel safe, supported and proud of where you live. This section explains how we look after your tenancy, your home and the streets and communal areas around it, and how you can help us get it right.
What you can expect from us
- Home visits. We aim to visit every home at least once every two years to check that you are safe and well, and we visit some tenants more often. Read about home visits.
- Estate inspections. We inspect our schemes every month, in the third week, and tell you what we find. Read about inspections and fly-tipping.
- Car parking. A clear guide to what we look after and what the Council looks after. Read about car parking.
- Your say on contractors. Join the tenant-led panel that checks the work done on your estate. Find out how to join.
You said, we did
In 2026, over 100 tenants told us what matters to them about home visits and estate management. We have used your feedback to change our policies and our plans. Read Your Voice, Our Plans.

Your Tenant Handbook
Our Tenant Handbook contains important information about your tenancy, your rights and responsibilities, and the services we provide.
It’s your guide to living in an Arawak Walton home and is a useful reference throughout your tenancy.
Read the Tenant Handbook here.
Mutual exchanges
If you’d like to move to a different home, you may be able to swap your home with another social housing tenant through a Mutual Exchange. We use HomeSwapper to help our tenants find a suitable home to exchange with, and we pay for the service on behalf of our tenants.

Buying your home
Our tenants do not have the compulsory Right To Buy their homes like Council Tenants have, however some tenants have the Right To Acquire their home. The Right To Acquire applies to properties that were bought or built after the 1st of April 1997 and you should ask your Housing Officer if this applies to you. You can also find out more about this here.
We have agreed with the Government that we will offer all tenants the Right To Buy their home under a voluntary agreement that is currently being negotiated with the National Housing Federation. If you are interested in buying your property email rtb@arawakwalton.com and we will send you all the details when we have them.
