The Greater Manchester Police budget has been cut by £215million between 2011-19 with a loss of 2,000 officers and 1,000 staff. The Mayor of Greater Manchester and the Deputy Mayor of Greater are proposing to increase council tax to ensure more police officers remain on the frontline.
